Andrés Penella

BIO.

Andrés Penella is a Mexican multi-instrumentalist composer, graduated from Berklee College of Music. He studied a double major in Composition and Film Scoring. He worked as an orchestrator for Disney on the film The Last Warrior. He worked as an orchestrator, music editor, director, and composer of additional music with Jacobo Lieberman and Leo Heiblum on the film The Black Demon, and on the Netflix documentary I Am Vanessa Guillén. He was a composer on the telenovela La Jefa del Campeón, by Televisa, and was a music supervisor on the documentary series The Culture Code, for TV Azteca. He has scored short films such as En La Piel de Lucía (Official Selection of the Guadalajara International Film Festival 33), Victorias (Official Selection Short Shorts México 15), and Imperio Gay (Official Selection Short Shorts México 13). He composed the music for plays such as Blue Room (nominated for the ACPT Awards 2022 for original music); Enfermos de Amor; SEMINAR; and Despertar de Primavera (nominated for Best Original Music at the Metro Awards 2022, and at the ACPT Awards 2020-2021). He studied with playwright Robert McQueen in his masterclass on Structure and Dramatic Components of Musical Theater. He completed the CANACINE diploma in the Film Industry in Mexico. He composed the music for the interview program Mientras Me Quede Voz, by Odín Dupeyrón. He composed the music for the 100th-anniversary show of Berger Jewelry, narrated by Diego Luna. He composed the choral segment In Memoriam for the Metropolitan Theater Awards 2020 - 2022. He is a music teacher (orchestration, choral composition, harmony, and ear training) at REC School of Music university (Berklee Global Partner). His most recent work is the music for the LALOLA (the most viewed ViX series in the U.S and LatAm), with Bárbara de Regil.
